Heavy Metal/Battle Stations

Heavy Metal is a highly acclaimed production commissioned by A&E Television Networks for The History Channel in the USA. The programmes, known as Battle Stations in the UK, have also been broadcast on The History Channel and Channel Four, receiving excellent reviews. The programmes follow the machines and technology implemented from the Second World War to the Gulf War in the land, air and sea.

 

Programmes 1-4

4 x 1 hours exploring the capabilities of the Spitfire, the Sherman tank, the DC-3 and the DUKW.

Programmes 5-8

4 x 1 hours focusing on the building of Mulberry Harbour, the Liberty Ship, the T-34 Tank and the Mustang.

Programmes 9-14

6 x 1 hours following the Tiger Tank, the Lancaster Bomber, Radar, the Corsair, V-weapons and the Messerschsmitt ME262.

Programmes 15-20

6 x 1 hour programmes following the stories behind the Destroyer, the F18 Hornet, the B17 Flying Fortress, the F117 Nighthawk, the F15 Eagle, and the A10 Thunderbolt.

Programmes 21-26

6 x 1 hour programmes focusing on the Black Hawk Helicopter, the SR-71 Blackbird, the M-1 Abrams Tank, the P-38 Lightening, the Essex Aircraft Carrier and the B-52 Bomber.

Programmes 27-32

6 x 1 hour programmes focusing on the Destroyer, the F-18 Hornet, the B17 Flying Fortress, the F-15 Strike Eagle (left), the F-117 Stealth Bomber and the A-10 Thunderbolt.

Programmes 33-40

8 x 1 hour programmes exploring the capabilities of tthe Mosquito, the Apache, PT Boats, the Challenger Tank, HMS Victory, the B2 Bomber, D-Day machines, and the F-22 Raptur.
