Nazi Women

This proficient doc rattles us through the entire Nazi era at top speed but still manages to impart a lot of fascinating information about the role of women in Nazi ideology. Hitler placed an extremely high value on marriage, domesticity and particularly childbirth, so women and young girls became the focus of much Nazi propaganda encouraging them to propagate the Ayran species.

Many of the women who succumbed to the Reich’s inducements as young girls speak candidly about how they were seduced, and what their privileged status within the Third Reich entailed. A lot of them began to question the State’s hold on their lives as the apparatus of terror snapped into place – there’s an astonishing anecdote about one girl’s discovery of the Jewish ghetto. It’s a revealing and refreshingly different perspective on well-trodden historical material.
